Situation
History and Chronology Summary Page Updated July 21, 2009 5:33 AM +0800 Philippine Time June 20, 2009 2:33 PM -0700 Arizona Time
Thomas J. Hunt was a sweet, kindly, Christian gentleman from Yuma, Arizona. He was a very dedicated Christian and member of Valley Baptist Church, where he served 4 of his last years as Sunday School Superintendent, then as a Bible Study leader after that. Mr. Hunt brought his then fiancee, Janelaze Songcuya, here to the United States in December, 2005. They were married and resided in Yuma, Arizona. In May, 2008, Mr. Hunt and his wife planned a trip to the Cagayan de Oro, Philippines to possibly retire there. Plans were that he would fly ahead of her and she would follow. She agreed to follow after receiving her temporary green card extension or permanent green card. But, after Mr. Hunt flew to the Philippines, his wife then moved to Virginia to live with her boyfriend, Albert Dermott. Janelaze Hunt never joined Mr. Hunt in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. Mr. Hunt was unable to return home because he had little money. Then, this past January, Mr. Hunt became very ill and was admitted to the Hospital. He could have left the hospital at the end of January, if he had the money to pay the 25,000 peso ($500) hospital bill. He was unable to leave the hospital, and in the 2nd half of March he became very ill again and lay in very grave condition, lacking money and the much needed and proper medical care that he so desperately needed to survive, and hopefully, return to the Untied States. While still lucid he expressed on several different occasions that he wanted to return to home to the United States; that he wanted his wife to come to him in the hospital and bring him home to the United States; and also, that he wanted Daisy Cline of the Expats Ladies Charities organization to help him return to the United States. While Mr. Hunt lay in the hospital from January - March, Mrs. Hunt's online profile at Imeem.com, stated her name as "Jane Laze Dermott," stated her status as "Engaged," and contained photos of her and her fiancee, Albert Dermott, in various embraces, including in bed together. After this story went public with these web pages, and the Yuma Sun story, back on Aprl 11th, all photos of Albert Dermott and Jane Laze Dermott were deleted from her Imeem profile. Janelaze then also changed her profile name to Janelaze Hunt, changed her status to "married," changed the profile page background, and also added a playlist of about 40 Christian songs. Fortunately, a number of people have downloaded the entire Jane Laze Dermott Imeem profile for safe keeping -- prior to the removal of the photos and Dermott last name. Plus, as of Memorial Day, some of the Janelaze Dermott profile pages and photos are still in Google's cache. Meanwhile, Mrs. Hunt has maintained that she was unable to travel to the Philippines because of her green card status and because of a lack of money. That is a lie. The truth of the matter is that with a 2 year green card, or her one year extension of the 2 year card, she could have traveled to the Philippines. In addition, another concerned citizen, Mike Belter, offered to pay a round-trip ticket for Janelaze to travel to the Philippines. Janelaze refused that offer of the free round trip ticket. Thomas J Hunt died on April 26, 2009. His wife never went to him in the hospital and did not attend his funeral. Many have alleged that Mrs. Hunt used part or all of Mr. Hunt's $1000/month social security while Mr. Hunt was in the Philippines to explain why Mr. Hunt had so little money and could not pay his hospital bill and leave the hospital by February 1st. But, there has been no proof that Mrs. Hunt used any of the SS funds. Of course, the only reason there is "no proof" as to whether or not she used the SS funds is because Janelaze or Albert Dermott have not presented the proof. They just keep asking, "where's the proof?" Albert Dermott did offer to show the bank statements back in April when this story went public, but that was just an excuse to meet with this compiler to threaten or do bodily harm. Since then, he could have mailed copies of the bank statements and Western Union receipts. But, he has not done that But, here it is Memorial Day, and still the question remains, and which neither Albert Dermott or Janelaze Hunt have answered... Thomas Hunt was medically able to leave the hospital on January 28th. What happened with Thomas Hunt's Social Security money in January, February and March, that he did not have enough money to pay his hospital bill so that he could leave the hospital in January, February, or March, before he got sick again in the 2nd half of March? Mr. Hunt's body lay in Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes in Cagayan De Oro City, for 15 days, from April 27th until he was finally buried on April 11th. On April 29th, the day of Mr. Hunt's Funeral, Daisy Cline, and the women of the Expat Ladies Charities attended the funeral to pay their last respects to Thomas Hunt. These were the women that were so instrumental in the attempts to save Mr. Hunt's life, and in raising funds to pay for his required medicines in the hospital. But, on the day of the funeral, they were rewarded for their exhaustive efforts by name-calling and verbal abuse by Janelaze's aunt, Grace Songcuya and other family members. Grace Songcuya had Daisy and these other wonderful ladies of the charity group removed from the funeral by an armed security guard. (Note: Janelaze sister, Aurea Songcuya, and mother, Linda Songcuya did NOT participate in this verbal abuse.) Then, on May 4th, auntie Grace Songcuya, further showed her abusive powers by issuing a verbal summons to Mike, a british man and restaurant owner in Cagayan de Oro... to appear before her at the Hall of Justice to answer questions. On May 5th, Mike "Appeared" before this little, simple, clerk of the court, Grace Songcuya at the Hall of Justice. Auntie Grace ....remember now, she is just a simple clerk of the court.... interrogated Mike regarding fund raising activities at his restaurant on behalf of Mr. Hunt. The truth is there was no fund raising activities. The Expats Ladies Charities group, simply held their meeting at the restaurant. All of this, of course, was just a fishing expedition, by auntie Grace, in an attempt to intimidate Mike, and an effort by her to find money to pay for Mr. Hunt's hospital bill, and the funeral bill, which auntie Grace had racked up by pretending to be the grieving widow of Thomas Hunt, and making the funeral arrangements at Cosmopolitan. And to think that only a Judge could only issue a summons and conduct hearings! But, auntie Grace Songcuya evidently found a new power granted to a clerk of court under the Philippine Constitution. Initial plans were to bring Thomas Hunt home to Phoenix, Arizona, to be buried next to his parents in the Veteran's National Memorial Cemetery. But, Janelaze Hunt and Albert Dermott reneged on that commitment. First they indicated that they would agree to bringing Mr. Hunt home to give him the honor of being buried in the Veteran's Cemetary. But, after days of discussion and agreeing to give Ted Hammon, Mr. Hunt's stepson, a power of attorney to handle the arrangements to bring Tom home to Phoenix, Albert Dermott & Janelaze changed their minds. Albert Dermott's exact words were, "I did not know Tom and could have cared less what happened to him." Thomas J. Hunt was finally buried on May 11th, 2009, at about 2:45pm in Oro Gardens, Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. At rest, finally, but, as a veteran, denied the honor of being buried next to his parents, who were also veterans, in the Veterans National Memorial Cemetery, in Phoenix, Arizona. There are 5 pages detailing the efforts to save Mr. Hunt's life since March 6th, when a doctor approached an expat, telling him of Mr. Hunt up until Mr. Hunt's death and attempts to bring him home to Phoenix.
